Hospice Welcomes New Bereavement Counselor

Hospice of the Northwest is excited to welcome Allie Brooks as our new Bereavement Counselor. Hospice provides individual and grief counseling, not only for people who had a loved one on our service, but for members of the community who are experiencing any type of loss.

Allie grew up in Arlington and moved to Bellingham in 2014 to begin her education in psychology at Western Washington University. She graduated in 2019 and is currently working on her master’s degree through City University of Seattle.

Her passion to be a counselor began in high school. She worked with teens and adolescents, providing them with grief support, prior to joining Hospice of the Northwest. One of the things she appreciates about working with teens is that, “We often forget what it’s like to have zero freedom while being expected to act like an adult.” She is also interested in interacting with a diverse population, families, and the elderly.

Allie enjoys her new role, which is “to witness people actively heal” as they work through their grief. Being able to support people through such a difficult time in their life gives her “life, energy, and joy.”

Allie is generally the first contact people will have with our Bereavement team. She is responsible for assessing their needs and facilitating continued support.

Please join us in welcoming Allie to the the Hospice team!
