Erin was born in California, but raised in the Skagit Valley, attending and graduating from the La Conner School District in 1988; continuing her education at Skagit Valley College, graduating in 1990. After a 13 year break in her education, she became a Washington State University alumna from the class of 2007. She continued her lifelong learning by participating in Leadership Skagit immediately after receiving her BA in Social Sciences from WSU, completing the program as a member of the class of 2008.
Giving back to the community where she was raised holds a special place in Erin’s heart; she has been involved in many different non-profit organizations throughout the years. Currently Erin is a member of Toastmasters, a member and Past President of Soroptimist International of Burlington, a Leadership Skagit volunteer for 11 years, as well as the Founder and Board President of WE Ignite, a women’s empowerment conference. Erin and her husband Michael have three grown children; the two recently moved to a new home in Burlington with their 16 year old dog. Erin began working at Hospice of the Northwest in October of 2017, feeling as if she has found the career of her heart. With her years of experience volunteering and her joy of connecting people, it was only natural for her to be most comfortable serving the amazing Hospice of the Northwest volunteer team.
When Erin isn’t working or volunteering her passions are travel, reading, and cooking. Taking a cross country road trip with their middle child, an Alaskan Cruise with their eldest, and exploring New York City with their youngest are some of the highlights. Erin has been known to read through an entire shelf of books at the library, checking them out a few at a time. Trying new recipes, baking for friends and family, and sharing her cooking philosophy with each of her children is always a highlight for her.
Erin’s bucket list includes more travel, specifically to Greece; making their new house into a comfortable home, and sharing good food and laughter with friends and family throughout her lifetime.
