You might describe Mary Gleason as an avid gardener, and you’d be right. She can often be found outdoors nurturing the roses, delphiniums, dahlias and other varieties that fill her flowerbeds. She loves watching them grow, choosing the best for fresh arrangements and enjoying their quiet beauty throughout her home.
You could also say that Mary is a nurturer of people. As a teacher and public relations professional during her working life, Mary developed long-term relationships that continue on to this day. Through her volunteer work with Soroptimist International, she helps improve the lives of women and girls in the Anacortes area, as they grow into strong individuals with bright futures.
And through her planned gift to Hospice of the Northwest, Mary helps nurture patients and their families, providing care and comfort that she believes is “so very important.”
Like many Hospice of the Northwest donors, Mary felt inspired to give because she strongly believes in the work Hospice of the Northwest does in the community. She first became a donor when a good friend entered hospice care. Her friend’s son shared with Mary that the care his mother received had meant a great deal to her, as well as to himself and his family. “I love that Hospice of the NW is interested in and treats the whole family,” Mary says. “And of course, they provide wonderful care for the patient, too.”
