Thank you for your generosity!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 22nd annual Ports of Call Gala and Auction! The evening was full of familiar faces, new friends, laughter, memories and inspiring generosity for Hospice of the Northwest.

96-year-old Elma Johnson made her famous wild blackberry pie to be auctioned off one last time. Since 2011, Elma had raised over $107,000 with her pie! As a way to honor Elma and her dedication to Hospice of the Northwest and the Foundation, we set a goal to help Elma break the Guinness World Record for the Most Expensive Pie Sold at Auction.

We are pleased to announce that Elma will be earning her place in the Guinness Book of World Records with her pie selling for $60,000!

Not only did we set the world record for most expensive pie sold at an auction, we also set a Foundation record by raising over $380,000!

At a time when Hospice of the Northwest is serving more patients than ever before, your generosity impacts many lives. Your donations ensure all people in our community are given the chance to live every moment with compassion and dignity.

How are donations used?

Patient receiving aromatherapyOne of the many ways your support makes a difference in the lives of hospice patients is through Integrative Services.

Sometimes, conventional medical treatments fail to completely manage a patient’s symptoms of pain and suffering at the end of life. For these patients, Integrative Services like music, massage, aromatherapy, and energy work can help manage pain, anxiety, nausea,  depression, as well as improve sleep and restfulness.

Despite their effectiveness in improving quality of life, Integrative Services are not funded by the Medicare Hospice benefit or other insurances. Because of this, we rely on the generosity of donors to continue to make these services available free of charge to our patients.

Donors like you help Hospice of the Northwest deliver individualized and expert clinical care that is as diverse and individual as the people they serve. When you raise your paddle, you help make treatments like Integrative Services available for Hospice of the Northwest patients.

Your gift matters: Your gift makes a difference.

“My heart is full of so much gratitude for your wonderful team. You have now helped my family with the passing of both my parents. You make a difficult situation as sweet as it can possibly be and I will be forever thankful!”
