MAID Update

Access to Medical Aid in Dying improved

The Washington State legislature made these changes, effective July 23, 2023:

  • Physicians Assistants and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners may now serve as the consulting OR prescribing provider for a patient.
  • The waiting period is reduced from 15 to 7 days.
  • Prescriptions may be mailed from participating pharmacies.

End of Life Washington has extensive resources for providers and patients, and will provide training or mentoring to providers interested in learning more.
