Hospice of the Northwest Lending Library

The Hospice of the Northwest Lending Library provides access to information, ideas and insights that support and inform our patients and their families, our staff, volunteers, and community members, in their pursuit of comfort and dignity as they address life-limiting illnesses and loss.

Run by hospice volunteers, our self-service Lending Library has over 1,500 books, DVDs and CDs that range in style from the very personal to more guidebook-like, and in intent from inspirational to practical.

Our items are organized into seven major categories arranged so it is convenient to browse:

  • Woman reading a bookCaregiving
  • Children/Teen
  • End of Life
  • Grief
  • Illness/Disease
  • Inspiration
  • Reference

How to use the Lending Library

Our collection is located in our front lobby at:

227 Freeway Drive, Suite A, Mount Vernon, WA 98273

To check out an item, please fill out its circulation card with your name and date and leave it with the receptionist. If you’re new to the library please also fill out a library patron card.

Items are usually loaned for 60 days. However, if you need more time, just call or use the Contact Us form at the right to let us know, we will happily extend the borrowing window.

To return an item, just place it in the “returned books” basket in our lobby. Thank you!

Our library is funded entirely by Hospice of the Northwest Foundation donors and is available to anyone in the community, regardless of their relationship to Hospice. For questions about the library, click here or use the Contact Us form at the right.

“The nice thing about a book: You can take it home and open it whenever you’re ready, come back to it when you like, or put it aside for when the time is right.”
