October is National Book Month, a perfect time to celebrate the power of a good book. At Hospice of the Northwest, we know books are more than just words on a page. They can be a source of comfort, a guide through difficult times, and a quiet companion when you need it most.
Our Lending Library is a free community resource, curated specifically for individuals and families navigating serious illness, caregiving, or grief and loss. It’s the largest grief resource library in Western Washington, with a collection of over 1,500 books, DVDs, and CDs covering essential topics such as:
- Navigating the complexities of caregiving
- Coping with grief and loss
- Understanding and discussing end-of-life issues
- Helping children and teens process difficult emotions
- Finding inspiration and hope during challenging times
Hospice of the Northwest’s Lending Library is managed by dedicated volunteers and funded by generous donors of Hospice of the Northwest Foundation.
Whether you’re looking for a book to help a child understand grief, a DVD with practical information for a caregiver, or a comforting story for yourself, our library is here for you. We believe everyone deserves the resources they need to live life to its fullest.
Our Lending Library is located in our lobby at 227 Freeway Drive in Mount Vernon. It is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents of Skagit County may also search our catalog online and check out books to pick up at their local library.
