At Hospice of the Northwest, the Referral Center is often the first step on the journey to hospice care. It’s where your initial questions are answered and support begins. We are proud to introduce the leader of that effort, Pam Putney, who stepped into the role of Referral Center Manager in June 2025.
Pam has been part of the Hospice of the Northwest team since 2015, serving in both full-time and per-diem positions.
“Pam has worn many hats over the years,” says Bob Laws, Executive Director for Hospice of the Northwest. “Whether it was meeting with patients and families in their homes, helping them navigate the admissions process, or working behind the scenes on insurance billing— Pam continues to be an incredible asset to our organization and we are fortunate to have her leading our Referral Center team.”
With decades of experience in healthcare administration, Pam brings seasoned expertise and heartfelt dedication to her new role. “I’m proud to lead a team that serves as the crucial first point of contact for our community,” she says. “Every person who calls us deserves to feel supported and cared for.”
Getting Started with Hospice
Hospice care begins with a referral, and anyone can call to start the process: a healthcare provider, the patient themselves, or a loved one. When you call our Referral Center at 360-814-5550, our team will:
- Review medical records and confirm eligibility.
- Coordinate with your provider.
- Schedule an informational visit to answer questions and discuss next steps.
Pam and her team of Patient Admissions & Education Specialists are available seven days a week, 365 days a year, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They are ready to guide you with compassion and care.
