We see torsemide provides better diuresis and better quality of life in many of our CHF patients.
Torsemide is better absorbed and has a longer time of action than furosemide. Some studies show patients who use it have fewer hospitalizations and longer survival times than patients who use furosemide.
If your patients are struggling with fluid balance, consider a switch. Use caution in patients with liver disease and patients on cytochrome P450 inhibitors, like amiodarone.
